Even in our small sized community, spiritual meaning and fulfillment does not mean the same thing to everyone.
We, as a community, seek to explore the meaning behind Jewish traditions, laws and rituals, and to adapt those
into our spiritual lives today.
We believe that the congregants of our community play a vital role in developing and contributing to our
spiritual life. While rabbinic leadership is vitally important to our MMT community, we also incorporate
lay-leadership and participation into our services to further enhance the strength of our community, and to
create a truly inclusive and dynamic Jewish community.
Kabbalat Shabbat Worship Services are held Friday nights at 5:30 pm.
Shabbat Morning Services are held on the second and fourth Saturday mornings of each month, at 10:00 am.
Dr. Nina Gordon, Associate Professor of Cello and Chamber Music at Illinois Wesleyan University, has offered to play brief musical introductions twice a month at our Fri day evening Shabbat Services to set a spiritual mood for our worship. Dr. Gordon, a cellist, has played at our Kol Nidre services and recently treated us to some delightful Bulgarian Jewish music. She will also play at our Holocaust Remembrance Observance and Student Cantor Holland's last visit in May. On occasion Dr. Gordon may send a student or bring a string quartet depending on the music. These visits will be a rare opportunity for us to hear a talented musician as well as discover the world of Jewish inspired music. Dr. Gordon plans to play at the following Services:
Friday evening, Shabbat Services at 5:30p on February 5 & 19, March 5 & 19 and April 2 & 16.
